The Israeli duo of Shay Alkalay e Yael Mer continues to experiment with new bookcase forms. After hanging books vertically in The Booken for Lema, their Bloom now wedges books between strings on a light wooden frame. A mix of room divider, display and installation, Bloom places the focus on the book-object, allowing onlookers to experience both its physical and graphic properties. The project originated from a request by the British Council and the quarterly Granta magazine, which publishes Britain’s best young novelists, to celebrate 30 years of continuous publishing.
Raw Edges: Bloom
On the thirtieth anniversary of Granta magazine, Raw Edges presents a bookcase-loom that showcases the book as an object, in the cloister of the Museum of Science and Technology.
