Through 26 October, applications are welcomed for the first Toolkit Festival workshop, which on 30 and 31 October will bring to Venice interactive designer Camille Scherrer, in the first of a series of encounters with new media artists.
Taking place at the A plus A Slovenian Exhibition Center in Venice, the two day workshop represents a moment of didactic exchange that is unique in its kind,
where the observers will have the opportunity to encounter the artists and to discover closely their work. On 30 and 31 October, young Swiss
designer of interactive installations Camille Scherrer will share her work and process. Graduated in 2008 at the University of Art and Design of Lausanne in
Visual Communication, Scherrer has been awarded the Best European Design Diploma (Talent exhibition, Design
huis, Eindhoven). She thoroughly experiments with art and technology and has created a
personal universe inspired to the woods she grew up in, made by animals, cableways and old postcards. Her
projects have been exhibited and reviewed New York's MoMA, Siggraph Japan,
San José California Biennal, and the digital art festival of Seoul.
This series of workshops is promoted by the Toolkit Festival, an event created by Martin
Romeo and dedicated to interactive and multimedia art, in collaboration with A plus A Slovenian Exhibition Center. The event leads the way to the festival's upcoming third edition in spring 2013. The festival's previous editions the Toolkit Festival, have confirmed it as one of the main appointments of the
Venetian cultural scene — an event with the capacity of engaging the whole city and it's institutions.
This year, the organisers have decided to increase the frequency of events, seeking to give Venice the possibility to become once again a place
where dialogue, exchange with the public and artistic research are considered of fundamental importance
for the development of the city and of the people living in it.
