The medieval building has been reinvented, restored and set up by architect and former Domus director Mario Bellini, with the graphic design by architect and former Domus art director Italo Lupi, making the visit to the museum a unique experience.
The Genus Bononiae – Musei nella Città itinerary also comprises the Art and History Library at San Giorgio in Poggiale, with a rich collection of books dating from the 1500s; San Colombano, with its collection of antique musical instruments belonging to Maestro Luigi Ferdinando Tagliavini; the Church of Santa Cristina, rich in works of art and a concert venue; Santa Maria della Vita, home to Niccolò dell'Arca's Compianto sul Cristo morto; Palazzo Fava Exhibition Centre, frescoed by the Carraccis and entirely dedicated to exhibitions; Casa Saraceni, home to the Carisbo Foundation; and San Michele in Bosco, a magnificent belvedere looking out over Bologna, with a rich collection of art works.
