A legal firm has rescued a heritage building in Costa Rica, and in Honduras they have given new life to an old building, turning it into the Arts and Culture Center of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Honduras. In Guatemala’s old town, a cultural center has recovered an iconic Art Deco building, turning it into the Lux Cinema. And Mexico stands out for its historical architecture and for how modern life succeeds in catching and adapting its essence to the new uses, with the Mezcalería and the Hotel Carlota, designed by architect Javier Sánchez. You can find all this issue of Domus México, América Central y el Caribe, in its Restoration, Revamping and Heritage publication, with great examples of the region and many projects at an international level. In this issue, we’ll also go to Panama, to stroll along the old towns of the capital city and of Colón, showing the restoration works that have been taking place for the last decade. Likewise, in Nicaragua we’ll visit Granada, the quintessential colonial city, and the Hotel BuBu. The magazine closes with a special visual tour to Antigua city, in Guatemala. Through a photo gallery, local artists and architects tell us the history of this wonderful Central American jewel.
