A spa in Caracas is inspired by 2001: A Space Odissey

Kubrick atmospheres and surreal interiors: the spa designed by Atelier Caracas is immersed in a dimension distant from the world.

Atelier Caracas studio designed a day spa in Caracas, Venezuela, with the idea of creating something “out of this world”. Based on this concept, the project is inspired by Stanley Kubrick’s cult film “2001: A Space Odyssey”, whose sets are reviewed and deconstructed to create science fiction spaces in a busy Venezuelan neighborhood. The result is a place isolated from outside noise, between references to space and surreal interiors.

In 2020: A Spa Odissey the reflective white floor reimind of the bedroom floor in the movie, the circular openings on the walls recall the shape of the Hal 9000 computer or the spherical spacecraft, a meteor-like rock supports the reception made of black formica.
