Just back from his latest project, a concept jet developed for the Fondation Cartier (Domus n. 867), Australian designer Marc Newson (born in Sydney in 1963) features in a new exhibition at the Groninger Museum in Holland. On show is a wide collection that illustrates his eclectic career as a designer: furniture, lamps, bicycles, watches and kitchen utensils, and also a Falcon jet, a concept car for Ford and a revolutionary seat/bed for Quantas Airline’s business class.

“The thing that has always driven me as a designer,” he says, “is feeling pissed off by the shitty stuff around me and wanting to make it better.” E.S.
