Pablo Picasso. Portraits d’Arlésiennes

The Arlésienne, the emblematic figure of Provence, has fascinated many painters from the seventeenth century onwards and is a subject that links Picasso, Gauguin and Monticelli to Arles. This French exhibition offers a chance to see together – for the first time - the portraits that the Spanish painter dedicated to her from 1912 to 1958.

Alongside the actual exhibition, Yolande Clergue has put together a collection of photographs that evoke the creative universe of Picasso, an interesting testimonial to the surrealist epoch: Lee Miller and Roland Penrose surrounded by Man Ray, Dora Miller, Nush and Paul Eluard; the painter’s studio in Cannes seen by André Villers; friend from Arles whom he met at the bullfights, Lucien Clergue.
