Gregor Schneider: End

German artist Gregor Schneider has designed a new entrance for the Abteiberg Museum in Mönchengladbach, in the North Rhine-Westphalian region of West Germany.

Monumental and mysterious, his large sculpture has taken shape as a large dark screen on the lawn in front of the building designed by Hans Hollein. Behind the screen, a 70-metre-long dark corridor – a kind of diagonal funnel – punches through the outer wall of the museum. The aim? To attract attention (and visitors) to this small museum hidden inside the city. The inauguration is expected to take place on 8 November. E.S.
