Markitecture at Bologna, value in architecture

Tuesday 30 September sees the opening of the exhibition Architetture e Culture, the main event of the first edition of a project by BolognaFiere, Cersaie and Saie.
The project is called Markitecture, valore in architettura and will be developed alongside the different trade fairs, dealing with themes such as cultural spaces, the workplace, architecture and mobility. Markitecture is run by a scientific committee lead by Aldo Colonetti, scientific director of IED in Milan and composed of design critic and historian Gillo Dorfles, Pio Baldi, director of DARC on the Ministero per I Beni Culturali, Carlo Monti, director of DAPT at the University of Bologna and architect Massimo Iosa Ghini, delegated ADI for the Emilia Romagna region.

The exhibition Architetture e Culture, curated by Martina Corgnati, describes the evolution of the notion of the museum from container for culture to work of architecture, showing contemporary museums and cultural centres alongside historic examples.
It will be held in three different locations, corresponding chronologically to Present – at the Museo Archeologico, Past – at the new Urban Center – and Future – at the Centro Servizi at BolognaFiere.

A series of international meetings is planned to follow on, to discuss the links between architecture and culture and between client and exploitation of design, in which will be taking part Jean Nouvel, Daniel Libeskind, Odile Decq and Zaha Hadid.
