Rome, triple homage to Odile Decq

Opening this evening with the temporary installation “Virtuale presenza” is a triple homage to French architect Odile Decq taking place in Rome.

At 6.30 pm a magical and spectacular display of reflected light can be seen inside the neoclassical surroundings of the Acquario Romano. The installation – a real architecture within architecture – is made up of a structure of transparent Plexiglas tubes, suspended by a grid of cables visible in the darkness with a play of light beams.

Events continue tomorrow at the Fondazione Adriano Olivetti with the exhibition “Odile Decq Studio – Agence d’architecture et d’urbanisme” which covers the three year long design experiment carried out by students at the Ecole Spéciale d’Architecture in Paris.

Finally, on Saturday 27 September, the Macro (Museo di Arte Contemporanea di Roma) – the extension of which has been designed by Odile Decq and is currently being built – gives over its galleries to the work of the French architect on the city, architecture, landscape and design.

On 27 September a big party will involve the whole city – the “Notte bianca”, an entire night dedicated to cinema, theatre, art, music, events and shopping and for the occasion a “window onto the building site” to see first hand the demolition work underway at the Macro, whilst Odile Decq will be present at the concert of Filippo Gatti at the Acquario (from midnight).

A house turns its back on the road to open up to the landscape

The single-family house project designed by Elena Gianesini engages in a dialogue with the Vicenza landscape, combining tranquility and contemporary style through essential geometries and the Mazzonetto metal roofing.
