A light rod, a joint and a base: three basic elements from which to design free and customised lighting solutions. The Libera system was born from the encounter between the Catalan designer Maurici Gines, founder of Artec Studio, and iGuzzini, a historic Italian company specialising in architectural lighting design, and from the shared, conceptual and holistic reflection on the value of light and how to bring it into space.

Libera goes beyond the concept of linear light and offers an infinite variety of solutions. Thanks to its formal ambiguity – which is at the same time essentiality – the light system constructs hybrid graphics that enter the space in a different way each time. Libera can form complex systems or present itself as a simple, isolated luminous sign. It is a product designed to dialogue with the spaces in which it is inserted and with the lives of those who live in them.

Libera's other unique feature is Optidiamond, a professional optic with very high performance in terms of visual comfort and luminous efficiency, in a truly miniaturised size. There is also an optic with an opal diffuser, also up/down, in two colours to fulfil its functional task when switched on and an aesthetic one when switched off. Finally, Libera, like all iGuzzini lighting systems, can have sensors and can be easily operated with a Bluetooth device, such as a smartphone. The light wands and base are available in four colours (white, black, titanium, blue sapphire) in combination with the colours of the joint and cable accessories.

Libera is – together with Allure, BeTwo and Whisper – one of this year's novelties by iGuzzini. The theme developed by the company this year is Living Vibes, with the aim of bringing its great heritage of culture, research and engineering experimentation into contemporary living spaces as added value quality. The design work aims to revolutionise the concept of light, to translate visual comfort and innovative optics into every living scenario, public or private.
