In contemporary design, the choice of surfaces plays a fundamental role in defining not only the aesthetics but also the functionality of living spaces. A careful selection of materials not only determines the visual appearance of the environment, but also influences its durability, maintenance and daily comfort. The bathroom, in particular, is the room in the home where harmony and practicality must meet.

Among the most interesting recent case studies is the bathroom of a private flat in the heart of Sofia, Bulgaria, which thanks to the skilful use of Corian® Solid Surface has been transformed into a welcoming place where beauty and functionality meet.

The floor and walls are entirely clad in Corian®, which was also used to create the customised vanity unit with perfectly integrated washbasin, towel rack and niches, all in Carrara Crema colour: a warm and neutral shade, characterised by monochrome veins reminiscent of stone, conveying a sense of natural elegance.

Corian® Solid Surface was chosen as the main material for this bathroom because of its aesthetic and practical qualities. It improves general hygiene thanks to its non-porous surface and almost invisible joints, which prevent dirt and stains from getting into cracks and crevices, thus preventing the trapping and growth of mould typical of damp environments. 

At the same time, it is also pleasant and smooth to the touch with its silk-like surface, unlike the cold, hard sensation that traditional stone materials provide. Corian® Solid Surface is also the ideal durable choice for spaces with its minimum impact on human health and the environment, as it is free from harmful chemicals and can always be repaired.  

In the bathtub space, a wall of Corian® Smoke Drift Prima complements the concealed lighting, creating a serene and inviting atmosphere within the space, and emphasising the functional and aesthetic aspects of this project. Corian® Smoke Drift Prima is characterised by a surface with a white, caramel and warm grey background, with irregular chocolate-coloured veins.

The project was realised by Soliform, a Sofia-based manufacturing company specialised in the design, fabrication and installation of Corian® Solid Surface projects and part of the Corian Design's Quality Network Partners program. Christian Kostov, Soliform’s General Manager comments: “This bathroom is an epitome of elegance, and every detail was studied meticulously.
