A sculptural, essential piece of furniture, that with the simple relationship between stone and water is able to awaken primordial values: Anima Liquida is the new freestanding washbasin that designer Giorgio Rava has created for antoniolupi. The product was presented on the occasion of Cersaie, the world's most important exhibition for ceramics and bathroom furnishings, held at the Bologna Trade Fair from 27 September to 1 October 2021.

Anima Liquida is a column made entirely of natural stone, recalling the archetype of the baptismal font. Even the traditional metal tap disappears to become a cylindrical stone control, so as to emphasise the connection between the stone material and the water, which comes out of a slit under the top.

With the new product, antoniolupi continues its research on materials: after the reinterpretation of "classic" materials such as marble and cork and the work on new materials such as Flumood, Cristalmood and Colormood, it is the turn of Ceppo di Grè, a grey stone typical of Lombard architecture: used for the facade of Palazzo Marino, the town hall of Milan, and for the new headquarters of Bocconi University, designed by Irish studio Grafton Architects.

“As lymph through the body, water carves the stone, bearer of life”, tells Giorgio Rava. “Anima Liquida is a reflection on water and man that takes us back to the origins of life to remind us of what we are made of. It is meant to free water from the yoke of technology and from the many devices that determine its performance, witnesses to the blind human ambition to dominate elements”.

Giorgio Riva's project does not only consist of the washbasin but also includes floors and walls, always made of Ceppo di Grè, allowing the creation of total look environments. This marks an important expansion of antoniolupi in the world of surfaces, further strengthening the sartorial soul of the company.
