The flagship of the Diemme company, the ARPEGGIO modular system is a piece of furniture that can be shaped according to needs and can change over time.
It was from the first half of the twentieth century that the concept of "modularity" began to take shape, with rationalist drives and standardization design. The introduction of modular furniture has marked the history of modern design, especially since the 1960s with the industrial boom that finally made mass production of modular elements possible.
In Italy, icons such as Mario Bellini's Camaleonda, Cini Boeri's Strips, and Gianni Pettena's Rumble are just a few of the most virtuous examples of modular design related to the comfort object par excellence: the sofa. The concept of domestic seating has been transformed into a flexible, dynamic platform capable of adapting to the changes of daily life, without sacrificing product quality.

In contemporary design, the theme of spatial flexibility has become even more inescapable, with housing needs changing at a pace that is often difficult to predict. Into this context today comes ARPEGGIO, the seating system designed by Principioattivo Architecture Group for Diemme, which not only takes up the theme of modularity, but also updates and expands it, proposing a solution consistent with the aesthetic, functional and sustainable needs of our time.
ARPEGGIO was created to offer new compositional freedom, perfectly in line with today's fluid living, where home, office and common spaces tend to increasingly overlap. Its tubular steel structure-composed of 57 percent recycled material-defines a precise and clean sign, available in three refined finishes (Matt Black, Jaipur Red and Bronze) that dialogue with a rich and contemporary material palette. The seats, made of FSC-certified plywood panels and upholstered with fire-retardant T40PCM polyurethane foam (class 1IM), ensure maximum comfort and durability, combining technique and environmental care.
But what distinguishes ARPEGGIO is, precisely, its ability to transform itself, composing itself in ever-new configurations thanks to an intuitive bayonet coupling system. A whole family of elements revolves around the basic module: upholstered backrests, 30° tilting armrests, free-standing or attachable poufs, intermediate sheet metal tables, round end tables with a black HPL finish, and optional USB sockets that expand its functionality in contract and work environments as well. Its modular nature is not only technical, but also expressive: thanks to the possibility of combining different materials and colors-even customized ones-each configuration becomes unique, in a free and creative design logic, suitable for home environments as well as offices and large public spaces.
Visually, ARPEGGIO looks like a landscape of light seating defined by individual, independent cushions resting on a thin but sturdy base. Each element is designed to express balance, elegance, and versatility: as in a musical arpeggio, each component contributes to the construction of a harmonious whole, which can change rhythm, shape, and intensity according to the needs of those who experience it.
The fruit of an integrated and conscious design, ARPEGGIO is an invitation to rethink the concept of comfort through a more dynamic and participatory vision. It is a sofa that does not just "stay" in the space, but interprets, designs and characterizes it.
