If we think of architecture as dealing only with the space enclosed within a boundary, we must remember that the boundary itself is also part of the project. Today, the window is no longer just an opening, but a relational threshold—an element that connects the building with those who inhabit it, creating spaces of light, interaction, and comfort. It is from this vision that FLAT by PB was born: a flush window system that brings together tradition and contemporaneity, material and design.

Conceived from the outset as a complete and coherent idea, FLAT originated from a specific architectural inspiration: the interior of a penthouse in New York, where clean lines and material consistency were essential requirements. From that initial prototype—unchanged in its transition to industrial production—a collection of window systems took shape, expressing a clear and radical vision: placing the window at the heart of architecture.

Designed by PB, an Italian company with over 60 years of experience in producing high-performance, aesthetically refined windows and French doors, FLAT stands out for the authenticity of its flush design, its essential lines, and its ability to integrate seamlessly into diverse architectural contexts and styles. At the core of the project is laminated wood—a living, sustainable material—available in several finishes, including oak, meranti chestnut, and pine. FLAT is also offered in hybrid versions: Wood-Aluminium, Wood-Aluminium Bold, and Wood-Glass, developed to meet a wide range of design and performance requirements.

Every project signed by PB begins with a dialogue: with the architect, the client, and the context. In this sense, the window becomes a shared expression, an element of identity, the result of research that goes beyond function to embrace meaning. Within this process, the true strength of FLAT lies in its aesthetic versatility: its slim profiles, fully concealed hardware (with a load capacity of up to 150 kg), laminated double glazing, and the ability to achieve high energy efficiency and optimal acoustic comfort make it a solution that is as high-performing as it is evocative.

Since its debut in 2008, FLAT has been the true flush window. Not a reinterpretation of existing models, but an original design conceived to create a visual and material continuum between interior and exterior. A window that eliminates barriers, enhances natural light, and transforms architecture into experience.
