In the heart of the emerging economic district of Plaza Europa in Barcelona, in the area of L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, a new tower rises, standing out for its height, volumetric composition, and surface treatment. This is Torre Colonial, a project by GCA Architects located in what has become a strategic hub for business and commercial activities.

The 21-story tower features a bold composition: four staggered volumes create a dynamic perception of the masses and add movement to the Catalan city’s skyline. Open terraces on various levels offer panoramic views of the city, while the building methods focus on sustainability, as demonstrated by the building’s Leed Gold certification.

A key element of the façade is AGC’s Planibel Grey glass, chosen in combination with the high-performance Stopray Vision 40/21 T coating. This pairing provides an optimal solution for solar control without sacrificing elegance. Planibel Grey glass, part of the Planibel Coloured range, features a sophisticated, deep grey hue that varies with the thickness of the material, delivering not only a refined aesthetic but also a significant reduction in sunlight penetration. This results in more comfortable indoor spaces and reduced cooling needs.

The Stopray Vision 40/21 T coating, based on magnetron technology, further enhances efficiency thanks to its excellent selectivity: it allows natural light to pass through while limiting heat entry. The combination of these materials allows for a balance between architectural beauty and energy sustainability.
