From Venetian lagoons to houses: Briccole by Cercom

A fascinating material, one of a kind in the world, is the protagonist of Briccole, the new porcelain stoneware project by Cercom Ceramiche.

In recent years we have been witnessing the rapid evolution of porcelain stoneware, an increasingly revolutionary and transformative cladding that is capable of reinterpreting to perfection the effects of natural materials and industrial products, offering excellent quality and performance. We are witnessing a burgeoning experimentation that, thanks to an all-Italian know-how, is capable of redrawing the stylistic and material boundaries of interior design in the wake of a new generation of coverings that are increasingly high-performing in both technical and aesthetic terms.

With the Briccole collection, Cercom takes a further step forward along this evolutionary path and proposes a series of ceramic surfaces with characteristic textures and a unique style, for the design of both indoor and outdoor environments.

The Briccole collection takes its name from the large piles scattered throughout the Venice lagoon. These indicate canals within which the water depth is such that they are navigable even at low tide. The average lifespan of the Briccole in the lagoon is about 10/20 years. They corrode with the tidal excursion and must be periodically replaced due to wear and tear.

Cercom's Briccole interpret these intensely textured surfaces in Avorio, Ambra, Miele and Tortora shades: a modern and versatile palette for studying multicoloured poses and combinations with decorative proposals of contemporary taste.

The Italian company proposes a series of formats that allow the typical laying patterns of wooden floors to be created, thanks to the 20x120, 30x120 and 20x180 cm planks, and the practical 15x60 cm strip, which is joined by the elegant 60x60 cm Intarsio proposal inspired by the handcrafted decorative technique of the same name. The solutions with R11 surface – 20x120 cm with standard thickness and 30x120 cm with 19 mm thickness – meet the needs of outdoor spaces.
