Eclisse invents the first sloping skirting board: an original product halfway between the traditional protruding skirting board and the modern flush-to-wall.
Before taking on today's three-dimensional appearance, the skirting board consisted of a simple 15 cm band painted on the lower walls. This architectural element first appeared during the Renaissance, when it began to assume different functions and meanings: it was both an element that framed the decorative subjects on the wall and a connecting element between the floor and the vertical surface; this coloured band also served to prevent cleaning operations from affecting or damaging the appearance of the wall in the long run.
It is precisely the cleaning operations – sweeping, mopping and then vacuuming – that determine the name and function of the skirting board, which over time becomes a three-dimensional element. The skirting board also covers irregularities between wall and floor, acting as a unit that harmonises the meeting of the parts.
Combining practicality and aesthetics, functionality and decorativism: with the Delta skirting board, Eclisse brings this element back to its original meaning but rethinks it in a contemporary style, defining an original and characterising complement, without however renouncing another fundamental aspect: ease of installation.
The sloping skirting board has a dual purpose: aesthetic and symbolic. The nomenclature was developed from its geometry, which evokes the shape of the triangle in the Greek alphabet indicating the letter Delta. In mathematical language, on the other hand, the symbol Δ (Delta) indicates variation, a transformation that is perceived in this skirting depending on the perspective from which it is observed.
From a frontal view, Eclisse Delta appears elegant and discreet, while it is from the side view that it shows its distinctive character: a tilt gives three-dimensionality and character to the product and the entire room. The inclination can be twofold: on the side facing the door opening as well as on the long side of the actual skirting board. ECLISSE Delta is designed to be combined with any type of counterframe, but is at its best with ECLISSE 40 Collection, the 40-degree splayed door frame, whose inclination it takes up to create a single, perfectly coordinated element.
