A fire door is a frame that has certain fire resistance characteristics and the ability to contain flames in case of fire, contributing to safety in public spaces and shared areas of different buildings: from hotels to offices, from shopping centres to residential buildings. The regulations governing fireproof closures are UNI 9723 (in Italy) and EN 16034 (in Europe), which classify doors according to their fire resistance. To be more precise, the acronym R.E.I. originates from three terms: Load-bearing, Airtightness, Thermal insulation.

If these subdivisions are functional in responding to the technical requirements of a building, it is difficult to quantify the aesthetics and shape of these elements, which in every interior always have to deal with a particular design and character.
