The bathroom collection that defies gravity

Designed by French designer Toan Nguyen for Laufen, the Ino collection reinterprets the shapes of the classic washbasin with contemporary technologies and materials.

The innovative SaphirKeramik material, the thinnest ceramic in the world, was patented by Laufen in 2013, and since then has become a technology with which the best designers on the international scene compete. In a short time, it has become as a real trend for the entire bathroom sector.

SaphirKeramik offers a series of advantages such as aesthetics, sustainability and usability of spaces: thanks to its reduced thickness, it opens up sophisticated shapes, without losing anything in resistance; the lower material requirement means less energy consumption during firing, production and transport; the material is also 100% recyclable; thanks to the slimmer structure and narrow bending radii, the ceramics fit perfectly into reduced spaces.

With the Ino bathroom collection, Toan Nguyen has experimented with the possibilities offered by the SaphirKeramik technology and reinterprets the shapes of the classic washbasin in a contemporary way. The products – wall-mounted washbasins, basins, semi-recessed washbasins – are characterised by simple lines and delicate, durable walls with a light, elegant appearance. The Ino collection also includes high-quality bathroom furniture and a bathtub available in two versions.

The aim of the French designer was to combine functionality and aesthetics, and create a unique product that can be used with practicality in everyday life. The strong point of the collection is the large washbasin with integrated shelf on which cosmetics and bathroom accessories can be stored. Thanks to the high design quality, the use of the unique SaphirKeramik and its strong innovative drive, the Ino collection won the coveted Design Plus Award 2015 powered by ISH.

The peaceful centre of the Ino bathroom is the freestanding bathtub. With its slim rim the oval bathtub appears both as filigree as the washbasin, and adopts its sweeping lines

“Each element meets the contemporary needs of optimising space and matter. Dedicated to the final user, Ino refers to the archetypes whereas the volumes give way to surfaces and thickness to taut lines: the SaphirKeramik washbasins offer unexpected roundness and generosity encouraging the touch; the freestanding bathtubs in Sentec resin reconcile the line precision with extreme seating comfort for the bath; and the wall hanging furniture of monolithic appearance reveal, at the opening of shaped aluminium fine doors, rational and intimate storage space” says Toan Nguyen.

The one designed by the Frenchman is a complete and sophisticated collection which, thanks to its thin and sinuous lines, seems to defy the force of gravity.
