The exhibition “Plain / Purl” at the Design museum in Ghent showcases textile design in a wider context of design, fashion, art and architecture. This exhibition marks the tenth anniversary of the launch of the Textile Design course at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts (KASK) of University College Ghent. The exhibition juxtaposes works by international designers and alumni.

The project explores the boundaries of art and design, juxtaposing the two disciplines. Additionally, the works are – literally and figuratively speaking – brought down from their pedestals, in a scenography that showcases appealing displays. The works presented feature names like Petra Blaisse, Louise Bourgeois, Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, Sonia Delaunay, Leda Devoldere, Martine Gyselbrecht, Christoph Hefti, Henri Jacobs, Hella Jongerius, Jean-Paul Lespagnard, Valérie Mannaerts, Chevalier-Masson, Berlinde De Bruyckere, Guy Mees, Muller Van Severen, Bertjan Pot, Robert Rauschenberg, Joanna Reuse, Viviane Sassen, Diane Steverlynck, Pascale Marthine Tayou, Rosemarie Trockel, Carole Vanderlinden, Rinus Van de Velde, Kristof Van Gestel, Anne-Mie Van Kerckhoven and Franz West.
