Wood mastery

Master cabinetmaker Antrei Hartikainen crafts maple wood mixing handcarving and CNC milling, to create delicate shapes inspired by stems, leaves and mushrooms.

Young Finnish designer and master cabinetmaker Antrei Hartikainen, born 1991, released a series of fine-wood pieces inspired by nature. His Kukkii series and Verso salad servers, are both sculptural objects that challenge the possibilities given by maple wood.

As the designer says, Kukkii is a “series of wooden aesthetic”: wall and floor sculptures in the shapes of flowers and mushrooms made of solid wood and different types of crafting techniques, from hand carving to CNC milling. It comes in various sizes, up to 180 cm high. The Verso salad servers, on the other hand, are a simplification of two leaf-shapes, where the subtle wood grain is an active part of the design.
