Nipa Doshi / Moroso
The Chandigarh upholstery series, complete with coffee tables, pays homage to Le Corbusier, Modernism and India's lesser known qualities.
Seemingly far removed from the lines of this Anglo-Indian duo's most recent upholstery designs centred on fabric texture and colour, Chandigarh actually applies the self same design approach. It is an in-depth and personal study of its type and world and features fascinating graphic and textural details. The sofas and armchairs are compact, visually trim and light, and are covered with leather or fabric bearing a print design by Doshi & Levien in deference to the memory of the city of Chandigarh. The coffee tables are unostentatious but with effective contrasts of texture.
