Open Villas – Ville Aperte

“Ville Aperte in Brianza goes way back, yet every year we marvel at how much beauty surrounds us, a beauty that still awaits to be revealed. This has been our commitment over the last twenty years, proving, edition after edition, that even in our territory culture can be a source of growth and development,” affirms Luca Santambrogio, President of the Province of Monza and Brianza.  Five provinces, over eighty municipalities, thirty itineraries and almost 200 public and private venues, including villas, residences, parks and gardens, churches and museums. From 17 September to 2 October a variety of events will celebrate the 20th anniversary of “Ville Aperte in Brinaza”, an event for the promotion of the territory.

The ever-growing number of visitors will be welcomed to venues of great artistic and cultural value such as, to name but a few, the small underground chamber under one of the  most charming locations in the Park of the Royal Palace of Monza, the Neoclassical Temple; the Convent-Library-Oratory complex of Santa Maria al Carrobiolo; the former psychiatric hospital of Limbiate-Mombello; the medieval village of Vimercate with its ancient walls, old prisons, and remains of the defensive fortifications; in the Como area, La Clerici d’Erba, originally an industrial silk centre founded in the late 18th century not far from Lecco; Villa De Ferrari Bagatti Valsecchi in Merate, the residence of the great Romantic painter Pietro Bagatti Valsecchi; the Pagani Museum of Modern Art in Castellanza in the province of Varese, opening for the first time with its over-40,000-square-metre park home to sculptures and mosaics commissioned by artist and gallery owner Enzo Pagani, who throughout his life collected works by international and Italian artists, including Jean Arp, Alexander Archipenko, Man Ray, Mauro Reggiani, Gio Pomodoro and Ettore Falchi. Inclusive events and projects that through culture aim at captivating tourists, young visitors, companies, associations and institutions, raising awareness on subjects such as economic, social, environmental and cultural sustainability for the preservation and protection of our great heritage.
