After a successful Kickstarter campaign, the Korean company Warm Materials has started selling a DIY kit to create a wooden pinhole camera that works with regular 35mm analog film. The user can assemble the Woodsum Pinhole Camera kit from a series of wooden sheets where all the elements of the camera have been pre-cut with a laser printer.
It’s a great gift for anyone who’s interested in photography, as building the simplest type of camera (where light passes through a small hole and the image is projected upside-down on the film) is a great way to learn the basics of optics and how a camera obscura works. Woodsum Pinhole Camera can be ordered in three different colors from Warm Material’s website for US$ 68 plus shipping to Europe.
Woodsum Pinhole Camera is a DIY photographers' dream
The camera works with regular 35mm film and you can assembly it yourself from a seried laser-cut sheets of wood.
