Land Unknown

The ongoing exploration of the “East” by Slovakian photographer Dia Takácsová is meant as a search of her personal roots, and as an investigation of the human’s impact on a piece of land, as well as the nature’s impact on human beings.

Born and raised in Slovakia, the East wasn’t something unknown or exotic for me however as the country is nowadays transforming and moving towards Europe, my travels often lead me to the further east.
I am explaining this as a search of my personal roots, questions of identity and my curiosity about human’s impact on a piece of land as well as the nature’s impact on human. In “Land: Unknown” I try to observe more intense, leaving out the direct messages of “where” and “what”. There is no obvious time and space – just signs of the past and present of places in a state of transition.
