In the last ten years, Fujifilm’s Instax cameras have been defying the decline of the photography market with growing sales, mostly thanks to their popularity among the Gen-Z crowd. Now Fuji is adding the Instax Wide Evo to the family, a new model compatible with larger double-card-sized films, and a 3.5” LCD screen in the back.
The camera preserves the captivating retro design of the Instax Mini Evo from last year but adds a 16mm lens with the ability to crop the shot on the device, and a number of dials and buttons that contribute to the nostalgia effect of the camera.
The camera offers users 100 possible shooting effects through combinations of 10 lens and 10 film effects, just like on the mini Evo. The main difference, apart from the film size, is that the Wide Evo also has a Degree Control function for fine-tuning the amount of effect to apply. Additionally, a new Film Style Framing feature lets users frame the picture in six different vintage film styles.

Last but not least, the Instax Wide Evo can double as a portable printer for digital pictures. By connecting the camera to their iPhone or Android phone, users can not just transfer images to and from the camera but also follow other users from the Instax community and copy-paste their custom effect style to replicate them in their shots.
Instax Wide Evo will set you back 399€, while double-card-size format films cost on average from 16 to 20€ (based on where you buy them) for a package with two 10-shot cartridges. Fujifilm also announced a new special film with a brushed metallic finish that complements the new Instax Wide Evo style and a 45€ retro faux-leather cover.
