Akira motorcycle turns into reality

Fantasy object and at the same time design reference for cyberpunk aesthetics, Shotaro Kaneda’s vehicle has been recreated in reality by a Barcelona studio.

Bel&Bel, a Barcelona-based creative studio, has created a real-life version of Shotaro Kaneda’s motorcycle from the celebrated anime film Akira (1988). The fully functional motorbike features neon-light tires, an open body design, and the signature red color, along with various stickers mimicking those from the movie.

The design studio is now offering custom-made versions of the bike, equipped with reverse function, twin-motor, two-wheel drive, electronically controlled anti-lock brakes, and up to 200 horsepower.

The bike also boasts unique engine sounds that add to the cyberpunk vibe and sports a visible crankshaft, gearbox, and green static electricity effects near the front tire. Additionally, it includes an electric engine for potential hybrid customization. The limited-edition motorcycle can be ordered by commission, with a final price starting at €24,000.
