Ateliers Jean Nouvel completes Tours Duo skyscrapers in eastern Paris

The project aims to be a point of singularity within the urban fabric, while dialoguing, through the play of reflections on the facade with the surrounding.

Ateliers Jean Nouvel has completed Tours Duo, the two skyscrapers 180 and 125 meters  high in eastern Paris, alongside the Périphérique ring road and a large railway siding.

Nouvel, who in 2022 was guest editor of Domus, has tilted the skyscrapers so as to make them more visible from the Seine and other monuments of the city. “A slight inclination could easily make the towers come into view while enabling us to play a game with the reflections of the railway landscape in the south facade, which would be very visible from the ring boulevard and the boulevard du Général Jean Simon,” said Jean Nouvel.

The 39-story Tour Duo 1 is the second tallest skyscraper in Paris after the Tour Montparnasse. On its upper floors, it houses office spaces and an auditorium, and on the top floor, a meeting space, while the ground floor is reserved for retail space. The 29-floor Tour Duo 2 also contains office space, plus a 139-room hotel located on the upper floors, with interiors designed by Philippe Starck. The tower is surmounted by a restaurant and bar, with a terrace overlooking Paris.
