The bag designed by Japanese artisan Yusuke Kadoi is used to transport watermelon. Rounded and leather-coloured, the handcrafted product of the Japanese brand Tsuchiya Bag – which has been producing leather bags since 1965 – combines quality, playfulness and attention to detail. A fun and durable “carry bag” made with the precise craftsmanship of artisans who assembled  leather geometries and joined them to a circular support. Each element – vertical like the watermelon strips – is slightly separable from the other thanks to the addition of buttons, which allow the bag to be enlarged and the bulky fruit to be placed inside.

Kadoi works today at the head of the brand and leads a team dedicated to producing bags for adults. The idea of dedicating a bag to food is not accidental: before turning to design, he worked as a chef.  The Watermelon Tote is part of a project launched in mid-2020, called “Enjoy the Fun of Carrying”, featuring also a snowman and a wine glass carrier, and a skipping stone belt – in Japan, skimming stones on water is a hobby that someone elevated to an art.
