Artissima 2019, the third edition directed by Ilaria Bonacossa, deals with the issue of desire/censorship, the desire often express itself and takes shape into art’s images, but also in different occasions it is censured, in the same way sometimes occurred that artists are censured.
Among the fair’s sections the tenth anniversary of Back to the Future needs to be mentioned, this year it is focused on artists from 1960 and 1999; also the third edition of Disegni, interesting section introduced to the director Bonacossa three years ago can’t be forgotten, it shows the works by 21 artists. Hub Middel Eaast is one of the new projects of the fair and it investigates that specific area, its galleries, institutions and artists.
Out of the fair pavilion, at OGR, the exhibition “Artissima Telephone” seems to be the most promising, a show conceived by Bonacossa and curated by Vittoria Martini that investigates, among works by different artists, one of the crucial device of our time, that affects our relationships and takes most of our timelife.
Once in Turin unmissable are the exhibitions of Berlinde De Bruyckere at Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, the once dedicated to Emilio Prini at Fondazione Merz and the personal show of Michael Rakowitz at Castello di Rivoli (inaugurated in October).
Unrenounceable during Artissima evenings are the Club to Club festival’s shows (30 October – 3 November), the rich program of guests takes place between OGR, Reggia di Venaria and Lingotto.
