Two years after its foundation, HPO - a collective formed around the Faculty of Architecture of Ferrara and active in the fields of architecture, design and performing arts through an experimental and critical approach - opens its new space in the alleys that once housed the Jewish ghetto of the city. It does so through the presentation of an installation that talks about the protests of Honk Hong.

After umbrellas, colourful post-its, human chains and masks, last summer Hong Kong activists armed themselves with laser pointers as a critical action against police and in support of democracy.

Hpo reflects on the unconventional use of the laser tool and on the symbolic meaning that this device has acquired during the protests of the former English colony.

Through 20 beams coming from a suspended light source, the collective from Ferrara circumscribes and delimits a space on the ground, associating the most futuristic of materials with the most primitive of shelters.

Within this immaterial space in which the visitor is invited to take a seat, a screen illustrates the path that has led Hong Kong students to react to their own limits using creative responses.
