The Italian Data Protection Authority has ordered an immediate stop, albeit provisional for now, to ChatGPT, the application based on machine learning and AI that is able to provide detailed answers to all kinds of questions.
For the DPA, the application is ambiguous when it comes to respecting the personal data collected. This is the official message: “The DPA notes the lack of information for users and all those whose data are collected by OpenAI, but especially the lack of a legal basis that justifies the collection and massive storage of personal data to 'train' the algorithms underlying the operation of the platform”.
