Neo-realist, rationalist, organic and brutalist architecture: post-war Italy was a testing ground for architects, designers and engineers. To celebrate this forgotten heritage, architect Martin Feiersinger and sculptor Werner Feiersinger have recently published two books from the Italomodern series, which has also been transformed into a travelling exhibition. The show, developed in collaboration with aut. architektur und tirol, will be presented for the first time in Germany from 26 September 2019 at Studio Finstral Friedberg.
The 115 photographs on display portray architectures more or less known as Case Zucca by Mario Cavallè in Milan, Casa Rossa by Gino Valle in Udine, Hotel Olivetti La Serra by Iginio Cappai and Pietro Mainardis in Ivrea, BBPR's Velasca Tower in Milan... Martin and Werner Feiersinger also designed the exhibition's layout, which with its pointed shapes resembles a drawing by Alessandro Mendini, There’s no Italy without a thorn, which was used on the cover of the special on Italianity published by Domus 1013 in May 2017.
The opening of the exhibition "Italomodern" on 26 September coincides with the event "Finstral meets the designer", which the South Tyrolean company producing windows, front doors and verandas regularly organises at Studio Finstral Friedberg. The space near Augsburg, Germany, is Finstral's largest showroom: 1,000 square meters in size, with 4 exhibition areas, and 50 samples including windows, entrance doors and verandas.
