The Portable Atelier collection designed by the French designer Philippe Nigro is a playful project that is also elegant and timeless. The collection includes a line of desk furnishings and accessories, created with the idea of making a “nomadic” study and/or workstation that can be moved from place to place in the home or office.
“The collection was born starting from desk accessories and then evolved into a larger project. The key element is the shelf, designed as a ‘microcosm’ where items or documents are collected in an organized way. From here I then developed the design of the desk taking over the shelf in the lines and in the choice of materials. All the pieces interact with each other, but they can live independently at the same time.” Philippe Nigro explains.
The collection – part of a larger project that will be developed in time – comprisers a small, lightweight desk with a flap top that can hold a laptop, sheets of paper and wires; pen holders and storage boxes in wood and metal are for personalising the space with different shapes and colours; an adjustable stool goes everywhere with the desk or can be moved independently for dynamic, improvised seating; a shelf made of wood and metal fitted with sliding elements is ideal for furnishing tables and desks to create a defined personal space anywhere.
