HAF Studio: Loksins

For this bar in the Iceland international airport HAF Studio, with KarlssonWilker and Ask Arkitektar, created an intimate atmosphere, far from the impersonal airport environment.

Loksins translates from Icelandic to English as “finally”; it’s an expression of relief after reaching your destination.

It is the name chosen for the new airport bar in the Keflavík International Airport in Iceland.

The place enhances the true spirit of sitting in a local bar downtown Reykjavik. All the interiors are inspired by the traditional Icelandic timber houses and they should reflect the relaxed and lively character of a true Reykjavík bar. The bar is developed by HAF Studio in collaboration with graphic design studio KarlssonWilker from New York.

In this place the designers wanted to create an intimate atmosphere and go away from the typical impersonal airport environment. That’s why they have placed a lot of interesting information and unexplained stories throughout the interior that should revoke the conversation between guests and the staff about Icelandic traditions.
