Writers House

Dave Keune designed and created for writer Marcel Osterop’s Eindhoven residence a small, modular and transportable writers house to work and meet his audience.

In collaboration with, and after a concept of studio HeyHeydeHaas (HeyHeyHey and Eric de Haas), Dutch designer Dave Keune created a small writers house for writer Marcel Osterop.

In the Parktheater in Eindhoven he has his residence in the flexible house. The writer wanted to be able to have a place to work and meet his audience. The house has various functions that enable him to communicate when he is in...or out.

The design is created out of four similar frames that have different functions. By dividing it in four it can be easily moved by hand. Also, more important, Osterop can arrange the house the way he wants – open or closed, sliced or turned.

The frame is constructed out of steel to make it strong and suitable to attach various materials on. Besides metal the designer used waterproof mdf, lexan plate and corkboard to create a typical functional design. One piece can be moved by 2 persons or by a handtruck
