Stile Architects designed in Osaka a new branch of a local famous Ramen shop, creating an open structure and pursuiting a new-look in a limited space.

On June 12 and 13, 2025, IUAV University of Venice will host "Stone is…," an international forum entirely dedicated to natural stone. Organized by PNA, this event aims to thoroughly explore the material's enduring value and sustainability, featuring insights from internationally renowned speakers.

This is a new branch of the local famous Ramen shop, Shyo Ryu Ken at Kyobashi, Osaka.

This shop is built under a railroad overpass. There are business districts and downtown area around this place. The theme of this shop is to provide an open and gathering place for the local community.

To create an open structure and to pursuit the new-look at this limited environment, the architects assumed the post and beam of overpass as the base of its mockup after struggling with the traditional way of construction which makes a spatially-closed place along with walls and ceiling. This way, they could expand the inside-out image and built the shop synchronizes with this street.

The material used are steel door and hardened glass wall as its exterior, decorated only with the shop logo in simple-beauty way. There are different shapes of triangle roofs inside and each area under the roof is like a dining room for each customer. Yet one side of the cell is opened to connect with the entire space and furthermore, with the community.

The project has been shortlisted at the fifth edition of the Restaurant & Bar Design Awards.
