Patricia Urquiola: Mangas Space

Presented at the last edition of Maison & Object, Mangas Space is a "total environment" where the rug becomes a modular, space-defining element, designed for GAN, part of Spanish brand Gandia Blasco.

On the occasion of the 2013 edition of Maison & Objet, Spanish designer Patricia Urquiola unveiled her Mangas Space, a "total environment" where the rug becomes a modular, space-defining element, for GAN, part of Spanish brand Gandia Blasco.

The project inaugurates the new GAN Spaces concept, in which the rug becomes the starting point and the main concept, while the user is allowed to elaborate on its design by adding coordinating cushions, poufs and accessories.

In Mangas Space, Urquiola's wool and polyester rug series Mangas becomes the main element is a series of modular components that can used interchangeably to create a multitude of different configurations.

The combination of the rugs and modules allows for the creation of a series of warm and harmonious environments, where modular pieces create different compositions and ambiences.
