On the occasion of the 2012 edition of the Orgatec office fair in Cologne, Italian furniture manufacturer Tecno presented Archipelago D502, a new seating system designed by Swedish practice Monica Förster Design Studio.

The Archipelago D502 seating system is comprised of single armchairs, a two-seater sofa, a three seater sofa and round side tables. All these elements can be positioned together to create organic shapes or classic configurations. Archipelago is a modular system, and seeks to serve different applications in the domestic, office and lounge environments.

The pieces feature a tubular steel structure, with a polyurethane foam upholstered in fabric or leather. The tubular steel base has a satin nickel finish, while the side tables are available in several finishes, matt lacquer or veneered.

Tecno specialises in tailor-made designs, among which are the refurbished British Museum by the architect Norman Foster, the building of the Agbar tower in Barcelona, designed by Jean Nouvel, and the European Parliament.
