During the summer of 2009 the Rubber Duck by Florentijn Hofman bobbed around in the rivers and canals of Limburg. This was the first Z-OUT project by Z33, an art in public space project. During those summer months the duck had a hard time. The Duck had to be brought to the repair shop twice due to a rough storm and vandalism. At the end of the trip, the damage was unfortunately unrepairable.

However, Z33 has a talent for positive thinking and came up with a brilliant, creative and ecological idea: recycle the Rubber Duck into a shopping bag. Z33 introducted Florentijn Hofman, designer of the Rubber Duck, to designer Michael Verheyden. Verheyden created a pattern for a shopping bag: Badeendtas (Rubber Duck bag)

The first copies of the Hofman & Verheyden Badeendentas were made on July 3 in the garden, during the presentation of the Z33 Wanatoe awards. Twenty volunteers turned a DIY package into their own unique Badeendtas.
