Christien Meindertsma, winner of three major Dutch Design
Awards, has made a series of objects that highlight the old
craft of rope-making. This is a project commissioned by
Thomas Eyck. With flax, the traditional Dutch material, she
has made a hassock, a carpet, a candle, flex, towels and
lamps. Each object restores the essence of rope and the
production methods of spinning, weaving, plaiting and
splicing.
