Arugambay Roccos draws on the natural beauty of the Southeast coast of Sri Lanka. The symmetrical theme and experience was conceptualised by Ulla and Urani Resorts in partnership with A M Naleem and BT Options, together with SMI Engineering.

Arugambay Roccos, a hotel in the Southeast coast of the island, has been designed to provide a unique Sri Lankan experience in the island’s surfing capital. The property maximises on its key location, which extends from the entryway all the way to the ocean. Arugambay Roccos is the first planned development that encompassed a single concept introduced a novel culture and aesthetic to the area.  The design follows a cube-inspired theme, with symmetry at the core. The exterior and interior are pure white, exuding a cooling and bright ambience. The furniture is elegant and stylish made without any embellishments in a light shaded wood.

Arugambay Roccos has introduced a novel culture inspired by the aesthetic beauty of the Southeast coast

The Square is the restaurant, which follows a symmetrical theme, where surrounding glass walls provide ample natural illumination and views of the landscape. A fully equipped, state-of-the-art open kitchen is separated from the restaurant by a single panel of glass, allowing guests to see the action of meals being prepared. The Space – the lounge, opens on all sides overlooking beautiful views. The Cubes (rooms) are arranged in 11 separate units, with ground and upper floors connected by an exterior staircase with wooden railings. This entails 22 rooms. The interiors of the rooms are equal in size, spacious and with elegant furnishing. To ensure cooling temperatures, the floor is of Titanium cement and special Aluminum-Zinc sandwich panels were used for the ceiling.  The en-suit bathrooms are in cooling grey cement. The Cubes have been positioned at an angle so all rooms have views of the ocean. Four Cubes are on the beachfront, whilst the remaining eighteen Cubes open onto the lawn.

Coconut and king coconut palms on the property were saved and were reorganised in the central grass lawn after construction, enhancing the area’s lush tropical beach-side environment. The Water Cube (swimming pool and children’s pool) faces the beach and ocean. Beach beds are placed along the periphery of the pools as well as on the beachfront. Lighting is a special feature of Arugambay Roccos with warm subtle lights providing a tropical feel.
