Mas-aqui has renovated a 1924 building located near Park Güell in Barcelona. The two-storey structure has been transformed into a multi-level apartment that rethinks the entire space: mezzanines have been included to make the most of the height and the basement, abandoned for years and accessible only through an external staircase, has been recovered. The result is a game of connections, with the -1 floor transformed into a bedroom and the ground floor used for the living and dining room, the latter surmounted by a wooden structure reminiscent of the Japanese cradle Yurikago – from which the project takes its name.
The first floor houses a studio and a bedroom with shower: from here starts a walkway that serves as a dressing room and overlooks the living area in a continuous dialogue of volumes. Exposed concrete slabs are used to support the double-height space created during the works, while brown-reddish tiles cover the floor.
