Designed for Seoul MARU 2019 Design Competition, New Korean Garden is the concept project for an outdoor space by SKNYPL Architects to be placed on the roof of the Seoul Hall of Urbanism and Architecture. This reinterpretation of the traditional garden is a recreational public environment ditributed on 700 square meters, a meeting point for citizens to relax and train, a playground for children or a square for lectures and events. Recalling plants and stones of the Korean garden, the soft shapes create a dreamy landscape inside the city interacting with the exterior. The structure, made of recyclable ETFE elements filled with air, can be moved to change the organization of the space or create new funcions following the needs. New Korean Garden includes flying elements that announce exhibitions and events.
A garden for Seoul coming from a fairy tale
