Art Deco and Streamlined Modern: Design 1920–1940

Design of the Twenties, Thirties and Forties is at the centre of the show now open at the Museum of Art in Dallas, second in a series of three shows which examine XX century design. This fertile period is represented here by pieces of French furniture and lighting, American tablecloths and German aesthetic cups. The show offers epochal pieces which have recently been added to the museum’s collection: among others, objects designed by the American Eugene Schoen in 1935 for the house of Morris and Gwendolyn Cafritz in Washington, D.C., a series of furnishing pieces from the Twenties and Thirties given by the noted collector Patsy Lacy Griffith in her will, in addition to accessories and furniture in the Streamline style.

At the Focus Gallery, until April 15, 2002
