Sculptural and environmental installations, two-dimensional works and videos at the Riccardo Crespi Gallery in Milan (until October 30th) describe the research of the artist (born 1970) who lives and works in Tel Aviv. His research unfolds between two centers of interest: the complex nature of every social event and the provisional nature of any event or performance.
The works on exhibit in the show "Beside, each, other" – many of which were produced especially for the occasion – refer, with different linguistic expressions, to Weinstein's vision of the condition of modern man, still struggling with his fragility, like in the new version of Anthem, a long foosball table with players its made of fragile porcelain and arranged in a single line as a further expression of vulnerability.
Even the portraits in steel fiber communicate a sense of uncertainty with the corroded and indistinct facial lines repeated in different ways throughout the series. In the next room, large canvases symbolically convey visitors between the flames and clouds of smoke from forest fires with a "controlled fire" recreated on canvas by the artist. This theme moves from the two-dimensional canvases to the three-dimensional sculpture on the gallery's lower floor with the simulations of the black clouds of burning tires reproduced in steel fiber.
The situation of turmoil and disorder evoked on the ground floor here moves into a social dimension counterpointed by the representations of enlarged fingerprints, a clear reference to the centrality of the human being.
