Peter Halley and Alessandro Mendini

An unusual collaboration, between the American artist and Italian architect, for the redesign the main hall at the Massimo Minini gallery in Brescia.

An unusual collaboration, between the American artist and Italian architect, for the redesign the main hall at the Massimo Minini gallery in Brescia.

Halley, known for his geometric works that play on figures denominated 'prisons' and 'cells', icons that reflect the growing geometricisation of the contemporary space in which we live, was asked to create six new paintings in relation to a large wall painting made by Mendini for the gallery. Halley's lively and fluorescent colours are silhouetted against the large geometric design of Mendini modulated on a range of soft colours, yellow, pink, purple, green and light blue. The joint project, that has taken several months to realise, will be on show until May 17. G.G.
