For the first time in Italy an extensive exhibition offers the opportunity to admire the work of the American Alfred Stieglitz (1864-1946), an important figure in the history of photography. 122 images taken from the collection of the Royal Photographic Society in Bath are on exhibition at the Palazzo delle Esposizioni in Rome, demonstrating the revolution brought about by Stieglitz in terms of technique and style as well as culture, linking up the artistic avant-garde of the period with the world of photography.

Few personalities have managed to influence art and culture of the twentieth century in the way that he has; as a dealer and art collector, he opened up the way into America for European artists such as Picasso, Braque, Matisse and Cézanne, to name just a few. Considering then photography as a means of expression but also as a tool with which to evaluate art, he sensed its vast potential, raising up to the level of art.
