As Google works to put the world’s largest library online, the museum of architecture in Helsinki is going in the opposite direction as it highlights the value of buildings that actually contain books – important spaces in public life, a reflection of contemporary culture and places that can open the mind. To demonstrate this, the museum’s director Roy Mänttäri has selected four museums and as many libraries, built between 1998 and 2008, and brought them together in the “Store and Share” exhibition. After being presented at the Venice Architecture Biennale, the exhibition will be in the Finnish capital from 10 December to 28 February 2009.
